The primary objective of Enlightenment is to permanently realize the pleasant primordial Peace of God residing within our Self. But since we have not yet realized our Self, we have to realize our Self first before realizing the absolute Peace within our Self. Again, our Self can be realized only after filtering its Consciousness just as the Sun can be seen only through a smoke-glass filtering its rays. However, our Consciousness is buried deep in our body, mind and heart, and so, we have to discriminate It first from our body, mind and heart.

You separate your Consciousness from your mind, body and heart first. Next, you filter your Consciousness to realize your Self. And finally you experience the absolute primordial Peace of God residing in your Self to get Enlightenment. This is the process. You may choose any path you like, but you have to necessarily go through these three steps to get Enlightenment.

Traditionally either Devotional practice like Chanting or Wisdom practice like Self-Enquiry is recommended for Enlightenment. In my humble view, it is practically impossible for persons immersed in family and professional activities like me to get enlightened with either practice, as Devotional practice never tries to go beyond one’s Consciousness to Self and Wisdom practice tries to reach Self bypassing one’s Consciousness. In other words, the former is easy but ineffective, and the latter is effective but almost impossible to practice.

So, I employed the spiritual tool SURRENDER for my Enlightenment. Surrender may be viewed as the merger of one’s Consciousness with universal Consciousness of God. Surrender combines the benefit of both worlds as it is a judicious mix of devotion and wisdom, and so it is a foolproof tool for Enlightenment for ordinary persons like me. I used Divine Love Yoga and Expanded Consciousness Meditation to implement Surrender.

This peerless spiritual Self-Help book tracks, step by step, my experience of the Enlightenment process to realize the permanent primordial inner Peace within myself.

MY EXPERIENCE OF ENLIGHTENMENT

The primary objective of Enlightenment is to permanently realize the primordial Peace of Lord residing within oneself.

This realization of primordial Peace within is permanent, and is independent of the state of our heart, mind and body. Thus, even when our heart is experiencing sorrow, even when our mind is anxious and even when our body is stressed up, we'll be experiencing this primordial inner Peace after Enlightenment.

Enlightenment doesn't happen in a single day unless we have already experienced It in our previous birth. We have to pass through a few spiritual stages before we taste the primordial Peace of Lord.

Lord is buried deep in our Self that is, in turn, buried deep in our Consciousness. And our Consciousness is buried deep in our mind, body and heart. We have to separate our Consciousness from our mind, body and heart, and then, we have to discover our Self in our Consciousness, and finally we have to discover Lord in our Self. Usually we'll have to put sustained effort for about a decade to go through these stages.

This book "In Search of Lord in My Heart" covers my successful personal effort in search of my Self and Lord therein step by step.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE BOOK:

...This state persisted for a couple of months. Then one day when I sat in meditation, I observed a strange phenomenon inside my brain. I was listening to the occasional external noise. I was thinking some sporadic thoughts. And here’s the key. This explained what was happening inside my head for the past couple of months. I could OBSERVE I was hearing the occasional external noise, and I could OBSERVE I was thinking my sporadic thoughts...

...You will be at Peace at your inner core even when your mind, body and heart are tossed and torn apart by anxiety, intolerance and malice - at the absolute Peace that is characteristic of universal Consciousness; it cannot be disturbed by external events or circumstances...

... Suddenly there occurred a very deep silence. My mind was stunned and stopped its thinking process. More exactly, it was emptied. My senses became sharp and I could clearly hear the distant noises. I could perfectly perceive the background silence that extended into the infinite space replacing my expanded Consciousness...

...The pleasantness of this Source of Self stunned my intellect principle, the reasoning faculty of the mind, to such an extent that the duality of Subject and Object disappeared...

Shirdi Sai Baba, the Guide
The Mosque where Baba stayed

In 1999, I happened to read a book by a journalist on Shirdi Sai Baba. Since I felt that He dramatically demonstrated the philosophy discussed in Bhagavad Gita in the lives of His devotees, I was instantly attracted to Him just as an iron dust is pulled towards a gigantic magnet. He lived in Shirdi, a village in Central India until early twentieth century. I owe Baba all my spiritual and material welfare, for, I know He is inspiring my heart, mind and body for over a decade.

Idol of Nammazhvar, author of Thiruvaimozhi
Tamarind Tree where Nammazhvar stayed
Nammazhvar was a great Yogi of eighth century India. He lived under a tamarind tree in a temple of a village situated near the Southern tip of India. His work in Tamil language, called the THIRUVAIMOZHI, beautifully depicts the sequence of stages of spiritual journey of an aspirant of Surrender path from the beginning faith to the final experience of Enlightenment through various stages in between. It is, in fact, His own spiritual autobiography.

I’ve always used Thiruvaimozhi as the blueprint for my spiritual progress. Until I got an experience that matched the description of a particular stage in Thiruvaimozhi, I won’t accept that I had progressed to that stage.

Ramana, Preceptor of non-dualism
Ramanashramam where Ramana lived

My native town is only a few miles away from that of Ramana, a great preceptor of twentieth century belonging to the school of thought of non-dualism. So, I have heard of him right from my childhood. His teachings pertaining to Self-Enquiry are unparalleled. Once the ego principle becomes inconspicuous by means of Surrender, Self-Enquiry can be advantageously used to quickly realize one's Self.
